Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A popular South African radio and club DJ has been shot dead in the country's largest city Johannesburg, triggering widespread grief across a country battling entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by a trio of assailants, one of whom began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The reason behind the shooting has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, according to authorities.
The Fatal Incident
Authorities revealed that Stock was targeted as he was exiting a building near the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the site supervising the installation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, as per local media.
"It is alleged the deceased was confronted by three unidentified men after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement confirmed.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and dressed in what looked like a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was hit but collapsed a short distance away.
It was further revealed that Stock had an unused firearm and no items were stolen during the attack.
Important clues, like spent shells, were discovered at the crime scene.

"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been attempting to locate them to establish their location," stated a police chief.
A Nation in Mourning
His sister, Nicole Stock, stated the family was struggling to come to terms with the loss.
"I am in shock. I don't have words," she stated.
"We know he was a representative for countless citizens. He addressed issues courageously about topics not many people were ready to discuss. This is a devastating blow."
She appealed to the citizens to not sharing disturbing footage from the incident, explaining this was an extremely painful time, above all for Stock's young family.
