Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an vicinity near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the offensive on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
