Followers Call for Arrest of Person Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the actress are demanding that a individual who leaped a barrier and seized the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral clip shows the Australian man pushing past photographers and rushing toward Grande while the actors made its way down a promenade flanked by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though court documents revealed that he was scheduled to appear on the following morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
History of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed features recordings of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers performance in the city last December.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," stated an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Fans Express Concern Over Grande's Past Trauma
Several followers accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had revealed dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented another message on Instagram.
A number of attendees also faulted guards at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande looked startled when she was approached by the intruder. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has remained silent on the event, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of attendees had assembled in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore mall, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.
The movie, to be launched on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the popular stage production Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely relationship between two contrasting witches.
The show itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was adorned in a light pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and received ten Oscar nominations, securing several for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
