AC Shadows Reveals Surprising AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a surprising collaboration that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Revealed
According to the authorized release, "A mysterious confrontation draws protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of forbidden practices and monstrous changes reverberate through the darkness." The narrative presents a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with venturing into the Crystal Cave—a important location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a secret cult.
The adventure concentrates on "bizarre tests and a terrifying enemy" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Settings and Metamorphoses
The trailer highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The trailer finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Material
Players who finish the adventure will acquire an unique katana in addition to several artifacts concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also features in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Addition
This update also brings the game's latest no-cost story addition, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe reveals a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
Earlier Anime Partnerships
This represents scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with famous anime properties. The series previously showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Furthermore, Valhalla informally included a quest that clearly referenced the famous series One-Punch Man.
